NEWS FROM THE FARM: NOVEMBER 2021
The tea fields are still being prepared for the harvesting season starting in January so these last months of the year are mostly a time of weeding. Our tea fields are looking very good due to some welcome late rains. It is also flowering season now. A noticeable difference this year is that we did not have a big flowering season due to enough moisture in the ground.
The rooibos plant tends to flower more during dry seasons to protect its propagation. This excessive flowering enables the plant to drop more seeds for future propagation- a wonderful way in which nature adjusts to each season. Growth is also slower during the flowering season so less flowers mean better growth which has led to some really lush looking tea fields.
