Ever heard of 2 boxes of flower teas becoming famous? Well, it’s something like that.
First, they became the base blends for our Carmién Rooibos gins. Then we redesigned the boxes to match our unique G & Tea experience, bought our own pyramid machine (beautiful blends need beautiful teabags), and 2 teas became a whole range of Pyramid teas. And the rest is…? Not history, but making history.
Our pyramid designs recently became cycling shirts, and socks, and took part in the recent annual Cape Town Cycling Tour, the world’s largest timed race. An eight-day celebration in our world-famous mother city where human endurance and healthy lifestyle (that’s us!) placed the humble bicycle centre stage for our visitors and inhabitants. 35 000 cyclists and twice as many spectators competed in a gruelling 109 km race (cheering from the side-lines is hard work).
Have a look at these happy participants. Our oldest cyclist on the team was 68! Very inspiring. Thank you from all of us at Carmién Tea. You did us proud. One of our participants made last minute decision to partake and really made this an endurance race by riding his fat bike. He managed to keep up with his group and outperform many cyclists with an excellent time (3h40)!
The team were hugely complimented and encouraged with many creative ‘floral comments’ on the way. At the finish line some cyclists wanted to exchange their shirts for a Carmién shirt but the list was long and the shirts not up for exchanging! Watch this space if you were one of those wanting a Carmién shirt…
