Carmién Tea expands their offering to Thailand

Central Food Retail Company Limited (CFR) is the largest supermarket chain in Thailand operating since 1996, and is one of the business units under Central Group operating supermarkets in six different formats. The company seeks only the freshest of both local and international products sourced from the World’s best origin to be the No.1 in customer’s hearts.

CFR is to launch a new warehouse-style (wholesale) grocery concept similar to the Costco and Sam’s Club models, popular in the US and expanding globally. CFR will be the first in Thailand to launch this concept. The Central Retail subsidiary company will call the new chain Tops Club and the first store opened late September on Rama II in the capital city of Bangkok. The new chain is part of a broader commitment to expand its store network in Thailand and Vietnam to 1700 locations and will be investing US$500 million over the next five years in a bid to become the “number one food retailer” in both markets. “Only the best brands are selected to meet the needs of consumers with high purchasing power who seek quality,” the company said in a statement.

Carmién Rooibos tea products will be among the first premium products available in these stores. Apart from testing our product to comply with their stringent requirements, a number of tea demonstrations have also proved our rooibos offerings to be very popular. We will be providing ongoing training to familiarise their staff and customers with our products.

This opportunity confirms our vision to make Carmién Tea the preferred rooibos brand in every household, by offering our consumers the finest selection of products, outstanding service, full traceability and a direct link to the farm. We grateful to have our products on offer at the largest supermarket chain in Thailand and excited at expanding our future offerings in the new Tops Club stores. Currently our Natural Rooibos 160’s as well as our Organic Rooibos Pyramid 20’s are also available online at Tops Club.
